Principles of Attic Ventilation
Course Description
Attics need to breathe in all climates. Proper attic ventilation will help increase home comfort, help ensure the life and performance of roofing materials, and may reduce utility bills.
This course will explain the benefits of attic ventilation, describe the dynamics of air movement and the basic needs of a properly functioning attic ventilation system. You will understand the types of intake and exhaust vents, and know how to calculate the ventilation requirements for any attic.
At the end of the course, take the test in the section beginning on page 27. Upon passing the test (18 correct answers out of 20), you will receive a Certificate of Completion. AIA members are eligible for continuing education credits (1.5 CEUs; HSW category). Non-AIA members may also be eligible for CEUs by presenting the Certificate of Completion to their professional organizations.
